The Story of Jade

To some Jade is a beautiful green stone that aids people in support and love. It is said to help increase trustworthiness, find new love and bless whatever it touches! Rightfully named, the dog Jade is also beautiful, loving, tough and willing to build her trust in people and the world that has, up until recently, been so cruel to her.

The story of Jade:

A few months ago, we received a call from a local dog advocate with a hard case to swallow. The man informed us of a dog he rescued named Jade. Jade and her puppies, without any food or water, were left in a trailer to fend for themselves for TWO months. Yes, we said TWO months! With no nourishment, Jade was unable to produce milk to feed her pups and because of that, she was the sole survivor. Jade was barely alive and weighed only 36 pounds when she was rescued; she should have weighed close to 50! Her bones were almost protruding through her dry thin, her coat malnourished. Of course we had to help this poor girl!

With the man that saved her, Jade came to the St. Tammany Humane Society for her initial intake appointment. Right off the bat we could tell she was very scared and unsure of her new surroundings. Our staff was slow and easy with her, and she relaxed her nerves with every minute. Through her heartworm treatment at the shelter, we could tell she was not very comfortable. After treatment she was placed in a foster home where she received a wonderful amount of love and training. She was trained to stay in a crate, be around other dogs and children and was potty trained. She has been available for adoption for a while now, with no luck of finding her forever family. So now we are asking for your help!

We are looking for a family or couple who has a nice big yard with a tall wooden fence. Because of her horrific past, Jade becomes very anxious when surrounded by chain linked fences. It triggers the bad memories of being trapped in a dark, scary place without anyone to help her.

Are you willing to give this beautiful girl a second chance at life? She deserves to know what it is like to feel love and compassion everyday. Help Jade to know what love really is; help us find her a forever home!
