Every department here at the St. Tammany Humane Society is important. Whether it’s the Vet Team who takes care of our animals or the Adoption Counselors who assists in finding new homes, we all have an integral part in our overall mission - to save animals.
There is one department, one very special department, that makes sacrifices every day. Sacrifices that some of us couldn’t even imagine. And that department is our Kennel Staff!
Kennel employees are the first ones here in the morning and the last ones to leave. They work on Saturdays, Sundays and even holidays. They work in the heat, the cold and the rain. They don't ask for anything and they're not picky. They just enjoy coming to work everyday and taking care of the animals. This staff may have one of the most rewarding jobs (making real relationships with our shelter animals), but their needs often get overlooked. And while their jobs aren't glamorous, they are truly the heart and soul of the shelter. For these reasons we’d like to take a second and thank them for what they do each and every day!
In appreciation, we’ve created a wishlist of items they could really use! In true Kennel Staff fashion, they’re not expensive, just practical. If you have any of these items laying around your house or have the means to purchase any at this time, it would be greatly appreciated. Join us in acknowledging the employees who truly make a difference here at the St. Tammany Humane Society!
Their entire "wish list" is made up of 5 items for a grand total of $350. Items include a new water hose (a special one that doesn't kink), a new set of sinks for scrubby puppy bowls and two new faucets for the sinks. Just the sinks alone would make them so happy! The two current sinks and faucets must be a million years old (as shown in the picture.)
