Carlee Deserves a Second Chance!

The St. Tammany Humane Society believes every dog and cat deserve a second chance. We strive to give the best health care to every animal who comes to us. Occasionally, one will need special treatment that exceeds our usual budget. But with the help of our community and caring people like you, we are able to cover the costs and get them the care they deserve.

Meet Carlee

Carlee was found by a good Samaritan on an old dirt road out in the country. Genetics gave her a bad knee. Being only 8 months old and a medium size dog, it's important for her to have surgery to fix her knee cap from popping out of place. The kind folks of South Paws are capable of performing the surgery she needs. And they even give us a discount. However, the estimated cost to the shelter is still $1,900!

Second Chance Fund

Our shelter takes over 1,000 animals each year. Each homeless pet receives health exams, vaccinations, microchip, spay or neuter, & flea and heart worm prevention. Often, they come to us needing more than basic care. For example, heart worm disease is prevalent in the South since it is spread by mosquitoes. Neglected dogs receive no prevention which only costs about $10 a month. Treatment can be quite costly, starting at an additional $300. Yet, other pets come to us desperately needing surgeries beyond what our basic surgery suite can provide, such as hip replacement, knee repair, and other orthopedic surgeries for injuries. When you donate to this fund, you are not only helping pups like Carlee, but helping to ensure future homeless pets needing extra medical attention can get the care they need to have a 2nd Chance at the life they deserve. Thank you for moving from compassion to action and donating now. Give to the 2nd Chance Fund Below:
