A word from our veterinary team: their favorite part of working @ STHS

The veterinary clinic here St. Tammany Humane Society serves both the community and the community's homeless animals. Our clinic provides the best quality care to patients at an affordable price. Not only does it provide care to family pets six days a week, they also provide 24 hour, seven days a week care to the once neglected, unwanted and abandoned rescued pets of St. Tammany Humane Society. Each day, our veterinary staff give unwavering customer service to your family pets while also being there for our homeless residents. They vaccinate each dog and cat, protecting them from deadly illnesses. They microchip every one of our animals, allowing them to be found if ever lost. They spend hours each week spaying/neutering each animal reducing the number of homeless litters born each year. They perform countless examinations, surgeries, procedures and hours of monitoring, making sure each of our homeless animals are given every opportunity at a second chance and a better quality of life. They work during spays days; they work during disasters; they work on microchip days; they work Saturday, Sundays and are always on call. We are so lucky to have this amazing group of caring people to provide the best quality care to our rescued pets!

We asked our veterinary team to share their favorite part of working for St. Tammany Humane Society. Here's what they had to say:

STHS Director of Veterinary Medicine & Services, Dr Estelle Felarise: "I have worked in many places and I have worked on both small and large animals. Never has a place I have worked made me feel like I was home. This is where I’m supposed to be and what I’m supposed to be doing. The staff, the mission, and the clients all make me happy to come to work everyday. For that I am so grateful!"

STHS Veterinarian, Dr Lisa Johnston, "I work with a great group of employees and volunteers who are passionate about our mission."

STHS Veterinarian, Dr Maria Delaup: "The teamwork."

STHS Veterinary Assistant, Lacie Zeller: "I love working at the humane society because I love animals and love helping them. I also love working with the amazing staff."

STHS Veterinary Assistant, Alicia Davis, "I enjoy working at STHS because I love helping the “underdogs”, the animals that don’t have owners to advocate for them."

STHS Veterinary Assistant, Ginger Herron: "I enjoy being an advocate in promoting animal welfare."

STHS Veterinary Assistant, Kori Barber: "I love animals and enjoy working with them!"

STHS Veterinary Assistant, Amanda Matthew: "After working emergency and in private practice, there is something special about working at St. Tammany Humane Society and being able to improve the quality of client pets as well as our shelter residents everyday."

STHS Veterinary Assistant & Heartworm Consultant, Jerri Blake: "I planned to stay temporarily and after almost ten years I guess that says enough about my job."

STHS Veterinarian, Dr April Kelly: "I like working here because of the great clients I meet and the superb team we have to meet their pets’ needs."

STHS Veterinary Assistant, Michelle Braud, "I love being a part of an organization that helps so many homeless, injured, and sick dogs and cats. I love that we advocate to spay/neuter animals to reduce the unwanted pet population. It is so rewarding to find these pets loving forever homes."

STHS Veterinary Assistant, Shelly Mayon, "I love being able to assist in providing our homeless animals the care and support they need during their journey to find their forever homes."
