Golden Paws- Connecting Shelter Pets and The Elderly

Golden Paws Program

Golden Paws is a collaborative outreach initiative designed to connect adoptable shelter dogs with elderly residents in nursing homes. Through this unique program, seniors experience the joy of therapeutic companionship, while participating dogs benefit from socialization and increased adoption opportunities. Golden Paws also fosters stronger community bonds by engaging volunteers in meaningful service.

In partnership with About You In Home Care and Vital Medical Staffing, the program offers an added benefit: access to valuable resources on senior services, special needs support, veteran care, and employment opportunities provided by their compassionate team.

Program Goals

  • Enhance Wellbeing: Provide emotional enrichment and mental stimulation for both seniors and shelter dogs.

  • Support Adoptions: Increase visibility and adoption opportunities for participating shelter dogs.

  • Strengthen Communities: Build deeper community connections while raising awareness of available senior care resources.

  • Empower Volunteers: Enable volunteers and About You In Home Care team members to make a lasting impact through meaningful contributions.
