Staff Highlight: STHS Kennel Lead, Ashley Ragan

We’d like to introduce you to Ashley Ragan, Kennel Lead at St. Tammany Humane Society. Ragan began working for our rescue January of 2016. Since that time, she has contributed to saving the lives of 1,000 + animals through a number of accomplishments including the rescue of 200 dogs from flooded waters in August of 2016, various transports of animals in need, and countless hours worked at off-site adoption events. She has a true knack for working with animals, which is displayed by her balance of compassion and courage toward our homeless residents.

Ragan is originally from Chalmette, but like many, moved to the Northshore after the devastating winds of Hurricane Katrina took her family’s home. After relocating to Slidell, she received her cosmetology licence and worked for a salon for several years before becoming part of the STHS family. Her days are now spent leading a dedicated crew of kennel staff, ensuring the stay of animals who have also lost their homes is a comfortable one until their forever home is found. She is an integral part of our mission to save the lives of homeless animals and lay the foundation of a no-kill St. Tammany!

Ragan's free time is sepnt with her family including son, Jude, and four furry family members, cats Salem and Anakin and dogs Sweet Pea and Dahlia.
