Harvey - a kitten who survives a life-threatening attack

Little Harvey may not have been displaced from the hurricane, but he is still our little survivor!

Many people don't realize the variety of situations shelter veterinarians face everyday. From animals hit by cars and left to fend for themselves to ones abandoned and starving, and even beloved pets faced with life-threatening diseases a family can't afford, our veterinarian team is equipped to handle just about any situation. And when push comes to shove, there are a lot of people behind-the-scenes that make miracles happen everyday.

Little Harvey's story is one example of the endless teamwork it takes to help an animal in need.

Harvey came into our clinic clearly suffering from extensive wounds covering his entire neck. An exam by Dr. Maria Delaup revealed this innocent kitten had been attacked by a large bird such as a hawk or owl. At such a young age, his wounds would need intensive care and around the clock monitoring; something his owner was unable to provide for him. If not immediately addressed, his injuries could very well become life-threatening.

Because of Delaup's compassion, we decided to take him in as one of our own. He was cleaned up and stitched back together by STHS Veterinarian, Dr. April Kelly. A third staff member, STHS Surgical Assistant, Christina Farrell, finished the last leg to his recovery, dedicating everyday to this little guy's life. Now a month later, Christina is ready to pass this little guy on to his forever home! Harvey is healthy, happy and looking for a family to call his own!

Christina says Harvey is a playful kitten who loves to give hugs. He gets along with both dogs and cats and even children. He would make a great addition to any family. Please help us find this sweet boy his home by sharing his story!
